John Woo is going back to the gangster genre with his new film Manhunt which will premier at the 74th Venice Film Festival in September.
It is a remake of the 1976 Japanese classic action thriller (starring Ken Takakura), which tells the story of a man who is accused of multiple crimes and trying desperately to clear his name.
The remake is about a prosecutor, played by Chinese actor Zhang Hanyu, who is framed for robbery, rape and multiple murders and sets out on a solo mission to clear his name. Japanese actor and singer Masaharu Fukuyama plays the detective chasing Zhang’s character. Also starring are Ha Ji-Won and newcomer Qi Wei.
