Shout! Studios has nabbed worldwide rights (excluding select Asian territories) to the coveted Golden Princess movie library, a large library of 156 Hong Kong cinema classics .
These films, which dominated screens during Hong Kong’s cinematic golden age of the ’80s and ’90s, left an huge mark on Hollywood, inspiring and influencing many filmakers.

What does this mean for HK Cinema fans? Titles that have been unavailable in the West for decades, such as the John Woo classics The Killer and Hard Boiled, and fan favourites such as The Chinese Ghost Story Trilogy, and City on Fire, will now be made available on Blu-ray and hopefully 4K over the coming years and beyond.

Worldwide rights are covered, but as Shout is a USA-based company, hopefully, they will re-licence the titles to other companies elsewhere in Europe and beyond, such as Arrow, 88 Films, or Eureka in the UK.
More details will be forthcoming but great news for fans of Hong Kong action cinema!
