Acclaimed action fight choreographer and stunt performer Yuen Cheung Yan has sadly died at the age of 69 from an undisclosed illness.
He was very well known and a veteran of the industry. One of Yuen’s most memorable roles was in Kung Fu Hustle (2004), which was directed by and starred Hong Kong actor-director Stephen Chow.
But he was also featured in many well-known films such as Tai Chi Master, King of Beggars, Drunken Tai Chi and many others. He was also fight choreographer for Miracle Fighters, Pedicab Driver, Once Upon a Time in China and both Charlies Angels movies in Hollywood.
Yuen was the son of the late Hong Kong martial arts actor and choreographer Yuen Siu-tien, who many know from Drunken Master and Snake in the Eagle’s Shadow. May he rest in peace.
